Differently Abled Parenthood

Parenting Differently Abled

You can be a great mom — chronic pain, mobility challenges, fatigue, and all. This is my space for honest talk about what it actually looks like to raise kids when your body doesn't always cooperate.

You're Not Alone in This

I've raised 4 kids — from newborn to teenager — while navigating life as a differently abled mom. Some days that looks like parenting from the couch. Some days it means getting creative with how we do everything from homeschool to bedtime routines.

This page is for the moms who are doing it anyway. The ones who show up even when their body says no. The ones who've had to explain to their kids why mom can't always do what other moms do — and who've watched their kids become more compassionate because of it.

Nothing here is fluff. It's real talk, real resources, and real products that have made my life as a differently abled parent actually doable.

Things That Have Actually Helped Me

Pacing Yourself Without Guilt

Learning to parent in shorter bursts — and letting go of the idea that you have to do it all at once — was a game changer for me. Rest is not laziness. It's how you show up tomorrow.

Homeschooling on Hard Days

On my worst pain days, school looks different. Audiobooks, documentaries, independent reading, and couch-based learning all count. Flexibility is the whole point of homeschooling.

Talking to Your Kids About Your Body

Age-appropriate honesty has been the best thing for our family. My kids understand that mom has hard days, and they've grown up with more empathy and resilience because of it.

Building a Support System

Whether it's a spouse, a friend, an online community, or a therapist — you need people who get it. Finding other differently abled moms has been one of the most grounding things I've done.
